Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi preview the South Point 400, which is the first race in the Round of 8 of the NASCAR playoffs.
The NASCAR playoffs are down to the final eight. Eight drivers competing for four spots in the championship race. The first race of this round is this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400. Current points leader William Byron is the betting favorite for the championship with four races left. Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. are next in the odds. Larson is the betting favorite on BetMGM for the race in Las Vegas.
Conventional wisdom suggests that Larson is going to factor heavily into the outcome on Sunday, just as much as Byron or Hamlin. Four of the top five finishers last week at the Roval were not in the playoff field. Do you think playoff drivers will be more of a factor in Vegas? Gluck: The reason non-playoff drivers had good finishes at the Roval is due to the stage breaks on road courses.
