NASCAR fined and suspended the crew chief of Front Row Motorsports' No. 34 car and took points from the team after an illegal part was discovered on the car following Sunday's race at Pocono, theBlake Harris, who is the crew chief for driver Michael McDowell, was fined $100,000 and suspended from the next four Cup Series championship points races after NASCAR found the non-compliant part. The team was also hit with a penalty of 100 driver points and 100 owner points.

McDowell's car was randomly selected for inspection at the NASCAR R&D facility after the race at Pocono. It was during this inspection that NASCAR officials located an illegally modified part from a single-source supplier. While the series has yet to give specifics about the modified part,
