The RZA, the GZA, Young Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Cappadonna, Masta Killa and Nas! That was the roster for Wednesday’s concert at Blossom, a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of ‘90s hip-hop.

Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Cappadonna, Masta Killa and...Nas! That was the roster of talent for Wednesday’s “New York State of Mind Tour” at Blossom Music Center, a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of ‘90s hip-hop.

It was as if his mix of old-school jams – from classic Biggie and KRS-One cuts to the vintage tunes by Chic and Earth, Wind & Fire – summoned everyone from the parking lots to concession stands to their seats. By the time Wu-Tang’s leader RZA hit the stage, Blossom was packed if not quite sold out. Wu-Tang Clan and co-headliner Nas wisely alternated sets throughout the night with the legendary collective going first. RZA introduced every member of the group, starting with GZA, who took the stage for “Liquid Swords.”

The transition to Nas’ first set was rather seamless as he opened with Raekwon and Ghostface by his side on “Verbal Intercourse.” Once Nas was on stage alone, the crowd acknowledged the fact they were in front of one of the greatest emcees of all time. Nas was Wednesday’s standout performer, which became apparent at the start of Wu-Tang’s second set. Raekwon and Ghostface, who got more time at the front of the stage than any other Wu members, kicked things off with a run of songs from Raekwon’s 1995 solo album “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...”

But Nas’ second set made up for any shortcomings. The man known as Escobar brought out more boisterous anthems, including a lively version of “Hate Me Now,” while mixing in short versions of songs from “King’s Disease” and his pop-leaning cuts like “Oochie Wally” and “You Owe Me.”
