Naruto's creator expresses in an interview that he regrets the introduction of the famous Shadow Clone Jutsu for an unexpectedly simple reason.
Masashi Kishimoto's creation of the Shadow Clones jutsu led to some of the most iconic images in Naruto but the author surprisingly regretted introducing that technique in his series. As the eponymous hero's signature move, there have been countless pages of the manga filled with clones. While this jutsu is a major aspect of Naruto's character, Kishimoto admits in an interview that he regrets creating it.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In an interview made with Fuji TV in 2015 Kishimoto answered many questions about lingering mysteries and doubts left after the end of his story. At one point, the author is asked if he felt like he "dug his own grave" by introducing the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu or "Shadow Clones" so early.
Naruto's Most Iconic Jutsu Made Storytelling Complicated Kage Bunshin no Jutsu is one of Naruto's strongest jutsu. Having the young ninja learn how to utilize it in the first chapter was an excellent way of hinting at just how powerful he is. The downside is that establishing this strength so early meant Kishimo had to come up with new, creative ways to demonstrate Naruto's growth as the series progressed.
One detail that can be easily overlooked is that all the clones Naruto created had to be drawn. And the stronger he got, the more clones he could create. A half-dozen Narutos running through the panels can be overwhelming; a couple hundred of them is far worse. Kishimoto expresses this exact concern in the interview: "[Naruto] quickly got stronger, didn’t he. When he improved, his number of bunshin increased too.
Giving Naruto Greater Power Meant Drawing More Clones When it comes to popular media like Naruto, it can be easy for people to get caught up in the details of the story itself without stopping to think of the actual work the creators have to put in.
