April 18, 2023, 7:29 a.m.Social media have been saying that it's in bad taste for what the fast food company did...Nando's, the popular South African fast-food chain, recently came under fire for a fake advertisement featuring Thabo Bester and Dr Nandipha Magudumana.
The ad, which was shared on social media, showed the two popular South African personalities in a confrontational situation with the tag line 'No one puts Nando's in a corner'.The ad, which was made by an independent creative agency and not by Nando's, was deemed to be in poor taste by many. It was seen as trivializing the struggles of both Bester and Magudumana, who have been vocal advocates for Black rights in South Africa and whose careers have been shaped by their activism.
Whilst we value the enthusiasm of fans for our brand, we don’t appreciate the production of these fake ads/parody accounts. This is in bad taste and is in no way aligned to our brand or values. And remember, if it’s not on our page, it’s not ours.
