Nancy Guthrie's Tucson, Arizona neighbors still feel 'on edge' 100 days after her 'horrific' disappearance
Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson neighbors are still “feeling on edge” as the search for Savannah Guthrie’s mom reaches 100 days.
“I write this message with a very heavy heart as our friend and neighbor, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing,” a Monday, May 11, newsletter written by the President of the Catalina Foothills Association, Will Pew, reads. “On behalf of the Catalina Foothills Association, I wish Nancy’s family and close friends love and support; our thoughts are with all of them.
” The newsletter served as a mini update on where Nancy’s case stands, while also sharing a message of support to the missing 84-year-old’s family.
“While we share collective shock, sadness and disbelief, we have also been struck by the messages of caring and solidarity that the CFA has received from so many of you and at the outpouring of gestures of kindness and compassion, such as tying yellow ribbons on the street in front of your own homes,” Pew added. “We stand together.
” As the message continued, Pew wrote that those who live “in close proximity” to Nancy’s house are the ones “particularly affected” by this “horrific event” due to the influx of outsiders.
“We have received numerous reports of behavior from non-residents that is disrespectful of neighbors and the surrounding area,” he added. “Although leaving flowers, missives, and other items at Nancy’s house has been fueled by good intentions, due to javelinas, packrats, wind, and increasing temperatures, we encourage well-wishers to make a donation to World Vision , an organization that Nancy loves, rather than continuing to leave items at Nancy’s house.
” Pew encouraged people to “respect the privacy of neighbors” as the ordeal continues. Going forward, the Catalina Foothills Association is looking into ways to “improve neighborhood security. ” The message concluded with a note about Nancy’s family, following her 50-year residency in the community.
“As with most of us who have lived here for decades, Nancy and her family are rooted in Tucson and the Catalina Foothills and she and her children and grandchildren have many, many close friends who are all suffering waiting for any news of her whereabouts,” Pew concluded. “I urge you to keep Nancy and her family in your thoughts and to respect their privacy. ” Tuesday, May 12, marks 100 days since Nancy was reported missing on February 1.
While Savannah, 54, has since returned to Today following her brief hiatus, the search for her mom continues in Arizona.
“We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you,” Savannah captioned an Instagram post on Sunday, May 10.
“We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. ”
