“We can debate whether (the child) may have some blame in this, but I come back to the fact that she was 11,” the prosecutor said.
BOISE, Idaho — A young California man convicted of kidnapping an 11-year-old Idaho girl could be released from prison after five to seven months if he successfully completes a treatment program.
In August 2021, Lee traveled from his Los Angeles County home to Idaho to meet the girl, whom he knew from an online gaming program. She had told him that she was abused by her parents and wanted to run away. “It is noble to want to help someone else, to save someone else, but it’s foolish to do it the wrong way,” Grove said in court. “You were absolutely foolish in this case.”Deputy Canyon County Prosecutor Shari Dodge, who had sought a sentence of five years in prison, said, “We can debate whether may have some blame in this, but I come back to the fact that she was 11.”
He also will be required to register as a sex offender. According to police investigators, the two had “cuddled” in the hotel room, and Lee had massaged the girl’s back with her shirt off.
