As of Thursday night, Democrats hold a 101-100 lead based on unofficial results.
There was no finality today in the battle for majority control of the Pennsylvania state House of Representatives.Democrats formally picked up one more seat today with incumbent Republican Todd Polinchock conceding defeat to Democratic challenger Brian Munroe in the Chalfont, Bucks County-anchored 144th District.
If Democrats get one or both, they’ll have accomplished a shocking electoral flip. They were down 113-89, with one vacancy coming into the election. If Republicans hold both, they will have barely survived what turned out to be a Blue Riptide through Pennsylvania. The widest margin in the two pending House races is currently in the 151st District in Montgomery County, where six-term incumbent Republican Todd Stephens is nursing a 14-vote lead over his Democratic challenger Melissa Cerrato.
As county officials evaluated 1,725 mail-in and absentee ballots that had been set aside for further review Tuesday, Cerrato picked up 36, and Stephens 24, cutting the gap between the two to 14 votes by Thursday night. County spokeswoman Kelly Cofrancisco noted the latter group is not expected to be counted until after Nov. 15, the deadline for receipt of the overseas votes.
