Wind chills between minus 10 and minus 20 degrees are possible overnight across New Jersey, forecasters say.

Strong winds gusting over 50 mph are expected to continue Saturday night with wind chills dropping to between minus 10 and minus 20 degrees across New Jersey.“Tonight will be brutally cold that will result in frostbite and hypothermia within minutes if caught outside without layers,” the National Weather Service said in an update Saturday afternoon.

“Strong winds continue through this evening, before dying down after midnight,” the weather service said. “This is resulting in current wind chills below 0, that will only get worse tonight.”An extreme cold warning for the entire state is in effect until noon on Sunday. High wind warnings and advisories remain in effect until midnight.Gusts up to 60 mph on Saturday could drop wind chills as low as 20 degrees below zero tonight. The National Weather Service has issued wind alerts and extreme cold warnings for the entire state.Sunday will bring warmer temperatures with highs reaching the teens to low 20s. Winds of 10 to 20 mph are expected to gust up to 30 mph.
