A New Jersey State Police trooper was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said. The trooper, whose name was not released, was investigating a 6:40 p.m. crash involving multiple vehicles in the northbound lanes at milepost 89.4 in Lakewood, according to State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.
“During the crash investigation, a trooper was struck by a vehicle and was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” Curry said in an email. The crash that injured the trooper remains under investigation. Curry said no other information was available as of Thursday morning.
