Senior Ajani Dwyer will not compete at Meet of Champions next week.
Washington Township senior Ajani Dwyer, who ran one of the fastest 100 dash times in state history last week, has decided not to finish the 2024 season with the team, according to head coach Chris Mitchell.
Mitchell was informed of Dwyer’s decision earlier this morning, just hours before the first day of the Group 1 & 4 championships on Friday. Dwyer, who ran the second-fastest time in state history at the South, Group 4 meet last week, was set to compete in the 4x100 and 100 dash for Washington Township on Friday, and the 200 dash on Saturday.
Mitchell declined comment on Dwyer’s reasoning for leaving the team. He was scratched from the competition once his decision not to participate became known. Dwyer will not be eligible for Meet of Champions, but is expected compete at a national meet sometime in June.
