Danica Rue is a 14-year veteran of the Public Defender's Office.
A veteran public defender will lead a new effort to track police and prosecutorial misconduct in cases handled by the office, Public Defender Jennifer Sellitti announced.
The office’s investigators are their “backbone” and their work sometimes reveal systematic issues that need to be addressed, and Rue will coordinate that work, Sellitti said. Among the new role’s aims are to assist in litigating police-related issues, develop systems to track police and prosecutorial misconduct in public defender cases and promote policies to address systemic misconduct, Sellitti said. And to bring attorneys, investigators, and social workers together in a holistic approach to represent public defender clients.
