Two New Jersey men were arrested earlier this week after attempting to steal $109,000 from a Massachusetts woman who was seeking help to remove a virus from her computer.
The scam unfolded after the 78-year-old woman called a tech support number on March 24 to ask for assistance with her computer, police inNikit S. Yadav, 22, and Raj Vipul Patel, 21, demanded money to remove the unwanted items from the computer and arrived at her home on Monday to get paid, according to police.
The men, who reside at the same address in Parsippany, were arrested and charged with conspiracy and larceny over $1,200 by false pretenses. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about Yadav and Patel is asked to call Yarmouth police at 508-775-0445.
