Michael Hernandez, 25, was arrested May 16 by local police and members of the county’s SWAT team a week after attack, authorities said.
The alleged kidnapping occurred about 12:15 p.m. on May 8 near Praise Church at the corner of Main Street and Banta Avenue, according to police.A Bergen County man facing kidnapping and stalking charges tried to drag a woman behind a church in the middle of the day earlier this month, according to police.
Hernandez grabbed the woman by her neck and backpack and attempted to pull the her to the back of the church property, which is located on Main Street and Banta Avenue, according to court documents filed in support of the charges. A good Samaritan in the area intervened, and Hernandez ran off, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
