The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is on the scene of two contained fires in Ocean and Monmouth County — a roughly 10-acre wildfire in Brick Township and another five-acre wildfire in nearby Howell Township, officials said. Firefighters used a helicopter and plane to drop water on the Brick fire, which is near Alameda Drive, said Caryn Shinske, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Environmental Protection, which includes the state’s forest fire service.
Crews are also fighting the Brick fire on the ground, she said. It has threatened 10 structures. A plane and ground crews are fighting the Howell fire, near Fort Plains Road, which has threatened three structures, Shinske said.
