The Horn Antenna is a National Historic Landmark that helped to confirm the Big Bang Theory.

After months of contention and moves toward eminent domain, Holmdel will buy the property where the Horn Antenna, used to confirm the Big Bang Theory, resides – for the net sales price of $4.75 million. The antenna is included in the sale.

The purchase will be paid for using money from Holmdel’s Open Space Trust Fund. The Township Committee voted in August to acquire the property through eminent domain and to use $100,000 from the fund for the down payment, with $1.9 million in bonds to be issued to fund the purchase. That purchase price was based on an appraisal the township had done on the property.

Holmdel will own lots 6 and 6.01 and Crawford Hill Holdings will keep lot 7, according to the memorandum of understanding.
