Drones also were reported along Texas’ Gulf Coast, near the Port of Houston and Big Hill National Oil Reserve, theEven before the latest spate of drones, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base reported an uptick in unmanned aircraft in restricted air space. In October 2023, the base said military places were twice forced to maneuver to avoid contact with a drone.
More than 1 million drones are lawfully registered with the Federal Aviation Administration in the U.S., and that number is likely to grow as technology advances, the agencies said.
