Residents of Salt Lake County woke up early Sunday morning to a loud boom captured on security cameras. Unified Police received only one call regarding the incident and were unable to locate any evidence. A similar event occurred a week prior involving donations at the Tooele Army Depot, which sparked public concern.

Their security camera system caught what appeared to be a whistling, propelling sound followed by a bright flash of light and a sudden booming crash around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 29.Video captures mysterious boom that startled neighborhood near Salt Lake International Airport2 News reached out to Unified Police, who reported receiving just one call regarding the incident from a resident of Taylorsville.
A similar instance took place around a week and a half ago on Sept. 19, when residents along the Wasatch Front scrambled in worry and confusion over what were later confirmed to be donations at the Tooele Army Depot which took place without community warning. After that situation, authorities of the Army Depot ensured the public they would provide a forewarning before proceeding with further detonations. A week later, the Depot issued a community notification via Facebook that demilitarization operations would be taking place that morning through the afternoon hours.
A community notification was not issued by the Depot on Saturday, Sept. 28, to warn residents of any future operations.
