First Emmanuel Clase, then José Ramírez and now Myles Straw have been extended by the Guardians.
Straw, 27, batted a combined .271 with 29 doubles, a triple, four home runs and 86 runs scored while stealing 30 bases in 36 attempts. He finished second among major league outfielders in putouts , ranked in the 98th percentile in Outs Above Average among American League outfielders and was credited with five Defensive Runs Saved per Fangraphs.com.
Straw also said he likes the way Cleveland’s young roster is set up for the future, and that as a former prospect himself, he knows just how hungry everybody in the clubhouse is to win. “When you hit it to center you’re out,” Francona said. “On a good team, when you hit it to center, you have to be out. You can’t be hoping. That’s what he does.”
