It’s possible that Sam’s mom has said nasty things about other people in the neighborhood to make Sam feel better about how he’s been treated in school, but it’s also possible that she’s just a snob who talks down on people who live in houses that don’t meet her standard. I don’t think you should assume the former, and I think it would be wrong for you to know that Sam is being bullied and keep that information from her. Put aside your distaste for her, though she’s totally earned it .
Regardless of her snobbishness, I think Sam’s mom would appreciate your concern for her son, and while it may be a difficult thing to share with someone you don’t know very well, it’s an important bit of information that she needs to hear. If she’s got her nose too high in the air to process what you tell her, that would be truly unfortunate, but I think the more likely outcome is that she’ll be grateful that you told her.
