The parent stated she doesn't want her mum to kiss her child without receiving consent, asking whether she's being 'ridiculous'
A mum has told how her mum kissing her two-year-old makes her feel uncomfortable, saying she’s making it impossible for her to teach her daughter about consent. She’s now sparked a debate after asking other parents if she’s ‘going mad’ or not.
‘Making it impossible’ In a post titled ‘My mum won’t stop kissing my daughter’, the mum explained that her mum had been helping out with childcare for her daughter who is coming up to three-years old. The post continued: ‘I’ve noticed that when says no to a kiss or cuddle, my mum always says things like “don’t be silly, of course you can hug your nanny”, and just goes in for the kiss anyway.’
The poster then asked: ‘Just wanted to get some opinions to see if other people think Im being ridiculous, too?’ ‘It may be a good idea to teach your daughter that’s she’s allowed to say no to hugs and kisses from extended family and friends but not immediate family!! Another stated: ‘If your Mum continues hugging and kissing your daughter even when she says no, she’s just teaching her that no doesn’t mean anything
