My Heart Raced for No Reason for Years—Then a Diagnosis Came That Changed My Life Forever
Extreme fatigue and brain fog plagued one woman—and her mom—until she finally got the right diagnosis for both of them.I was a college track athlete, and I’ve even climbed the Alps, so it was devastating when, three years ago, my fiancé and I went out for a local hike and I couldn’t even walk up the first hill without sitting down.and bouts of diarrhea and constipation, and my heart would start racing for seemingly no reason. The symptoms came and went; I just dealt with it.
I live in Montana, and I had to search for a doctor who was familiar with POTS. I wound up making an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist, who officially diagnosed me based on my symptoms. I started taking a medication to increase my blood pressure and added more fluids and salt to my diet.
