We chat with MyAdventuresWithSuperman producers Jake Wyatt (jakewyattriot), Brendan Clogher, and Josie Campbell (CozyJamble) about the secret to a great Superman story and what to expect from fresh takes on beloved heroes and villains alike:

Set during the early days of Clark Kent's time as a hero, My Adventures With Superman follows Clark as an intern with Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen at the Dailey Planet. He also cultivates his secret identity as Superman and learns to become the hero Metropolis needs. Over the course of the series, Clark will explore the mysteries of his origins, grow into his own as a reporter, and develop his relationships with both Lois and Jimmy as the trio works together to break the news that matters most.

Jake Wyatt: He's funny as hell. Jack Quaid is deeply funny. There's a lot of comedic timing. Also, Jack is extremely dedicated. We have to schedule extra time for Jack because sometimes you're like, "That's it." And he's like, "That's not it. I can do it better." You're done with it when Jack is happy with it. He's a real professional, really committed to the craft, and has a lot of great jokes.

Jake Wyatt: There's two stories there. We did some design tests during early development. Christie Tseng did this beautiful pass, that's more or less what you're gonna see in the show. Everybody fell in love with it and she had worked with Brendan on Kora. We knew he had a meeting with a Korean studio. We knew that we're gonna be animating with Korean studio.

Josie Campbell: Yeah, what's the secret sauce? I think it's two things. I think one is it's the team that we want to see too. It's why he's Clark Kent and Superman is kind of the mask. People get all in their heads about "Oh, Superman has so many powers. How do you make him a relatable character?" But he's relatable because deep down he really is human. He loves people. He cares about people, he doesn't want to see others get hurt.

That's what made Superman so hyper popular in the first place. Is this dude who was hiding and so the stakes weren't just "Will he save the city?" It's, "Is he gonna get caught? Is this spot with the girl gonna get blown up? What's gonna happen with that?" And so I think that's a crucial element. And people don't want to do it all the time because I think it can feel silly. It can feel a little Scooby Doo, but it's a little Scooby Doo.
