Must-See Video: Fallen tree and passing twister keep Iowa deputy inside vehicle

A deputy helping people seek shelter during a tornado became trapped in his vehicle as a twister passed by.

A Montgomery County sheriff's deputy who was evacuating a campground became trapped by a fallen tree as a tornado made its path in Red Oak, Iowa on May 21, 2024. Montgomery County Sheriff's Sergeant Todd Dollen was on duty evacuating campers at Hacklebarney Woods Equestrian Campground when he got caught in the path of a tornado, according to the department's Facebook post.

A tree then suddenly falls on top of the vehicle. That's when Dollen just stayed in his car as the nearby twister continued on its path. Banging from the tree's branches and from the flying debris hitting the vehicle can be heard while Dollen waits - heavily breathing in the driver's seat.Dollen breathes a sigh of relief once the winds began to calm down.
