Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet company continues its growth in Bastrop with an $8 million expansion of its facilities there
Starlink , the satellite company that’s part of Elon Musk ’s SpaceX, is planning an $8 million expansion that will more than double its footprint in Bastrop County . The plans were filed with the state Monday, the same day Starlink said it had produced more than 1 million installation kits at its Bastrop site since opening 10 months ago. “The team is ramping production to meet the surging demand for high-speed internet around the world,” the company said on the X social media site.
Musk’s satellite company expanding facilities in Bastrop The expansion will add 700,000 square feet to Starlink’s existing 521,521-square-foot factory in Bastrop County, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. It comes after a $7 million investment to add 150,000 square feet to its ECHO office building that began in May.
SpaceX’s Starlink subsidiary poised for record revenue in 2024 Residential Starlink kits cost about $300 and service carries a monthly subscription fee of $120. Business plans begin at $140 monthly. Service for vehicles and boats start at $250. It currently covers all of North America, most of Central and South America, much of Europe, Australia and is growing across Africa and Asia. Antarctica is on the waitlist for service.
