We are looking for someone who loves music, understands the Dallas music landscape, and can find compelling stories that will engage our readers.

is looking for a full-time music editor to join its team. This editor will be responsible for leading and managing coverage of Dallas ' vibrant music scene. The position is based in the Dallas newsroom and reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief. Remote candidates are not considered for this role. We're expanding our staff and splitting the music and arts/culture coverage between a dedicated music editor and an arts editor.

Eva Raggio, who has been handling both sections for several years, will be taking on the role of arts editor. What are we looking for in a music editor? First and foremost, we want someone who is passionate about local artists and the venues, show-bookers, and producers that make up Dallas' unique musical landscape. A deep knowledge of music genres, both national and local, spanning all eras would be ideal. Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as experience managing writers, are significant pluses. But most importantly, we seek someone who can find and create compelling stories that will make our readers as enthusiastic about Dallas' music scene as we are. This role involves a diverse range of tasks, from breaking news and trending topics that require quick turnaround times to in-depth enterprise and feature stories that may take weeks to develop. The editor will need to efficiently edit all types of content, ensuring clarity, conciseness, accuracy, and adherence to style and SEO best practices. They will also be responsible for managing the editorial workflow for the music vertical, assigning stories, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality content. Collaboration is key in this role. The editor will work closely with freelancers, providing guidance and feedback throughout the reporting, writing, and editing process. They will also build strong relationships with the local music community, seeking out diverse voices and perspectives to accurately reflect the richness of Dallas' musical landscape. The editor will collaborate with the audience development director on trending news and SEO strategies and with the membership director on membership program initiatives.
