According to police documents, Howick entered his mother’s bathroom while she was using the sink on May 23 and began striking her on her head with a claw hammer. While being transported, police said Howick excitedly asked twice if his mother was alive. It was reported that Howick appeared to be intoxicated and admitted to having nine drinks that day when questioned by police.
