Gov. Phil Murphy and his peers from New York and Connecticut were given the John Zuccotti public service award by the Regional Plan Association Friday, not for individual accomplishments, but for work they did together for the tri-state region. The award was presented at the RPA’s General Assembly in Manhattan and came with a panel discussion by Murphy, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont about what they say they’re doing to tackle transportation, housing and climate change issues in the region.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the RPA is a non-partisan planning organization that has generated Regional Plans over time, highlighting and suggesting solutions to regional issues in the tri-state area. This was the first time in 40 years the governors of the tree states appeared together at the RPA general assembly.
