A woman spray-painted over a mural in San Francisco's Mission District, vandalizing artwork that depicted traditional dancers, lowriders, and neighborhood theaters. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday at the front gate of Best Collateral pawn shop. A witness, Antonio Barrera, captured the act on video. He described the woman as blonde, wearing white boots, a white coat, and a white and brown scarf.
Barrera said she started spray painting walls at a laundromat before moving to the mural. After 15 minutes, the mural, which honors the neighborhood's Carnaval festival, was severely damaged. Barrera expressed frustration that the woman seemed unfazed by onlookers recording her and didn't offer any explanation for her actions. He also mentioned that neighbors were previously discouraged from calling the police for similar incidents unless it was an emergency
