Mural painted by at-risk youth unveiled at Strickland Youth Center
) - There is an impressive new mural at the Strickland Youth Center. It was pained by at-risk youth house at Strickland.“When you come in and see something so beautiful and you’re reminded that the kids in there did this- the kids that have come through this center,” said Detention Officer Ramona Hardy.
“We’ve got things like the Battleship- we have the Mardi Gras statue in Downtown Mobile, we have wildlife and things you can see and the landscape of Mobile. We have a great blue heron, alligators, crabs, we have the Excelsior Band right here that opens Mardi Gras every year,” said Compton. Detention Officer Hardy was in the room when the kids were painting the murals. She says she’s taken aback by what they created.
