'The risks associated for me in buying a dog were high so I needed to make sure I got a dog from a regulated marketplace and that's what Dr Tim facilitates'

A mum has revealed how a leading vet helped her disabled daughter deal with a phobia that was not only causing her deep distress but had the potential to create danger for her.

“When Katie was born we had a family dog who died a few years ago of old age, and they were fine around each other. Katie’s fear was of other dogs, strangers' dogs and it had become a major problem. Liz knew she could go to any animal shelter in the country and walk away with her choice of dozens of pets.

Liz said: "What Dr Tim was offering was a safe, credible and vet checked space within the puppy/dog market place where I could fiund a dog that suited us. And the bonus for me is that his free service will counteract the many problems of pups bought through Gumtree, puppy farms and unscrupulous breeders if the public will use his MyPetBond.

His free service helps match ethical dog breeders with suitable buyers and offered Liz the chance to find a MyPetBond-approved breeder and build a relationship with them before their puppy came home. “With the help of Tim’s advice, we were all set at home. We had a baby gate we could use to help separate Ollie from Katie as they got to know each other and gradually, gradually they got closer and closer.

“The breakthrough came with Katie when we were going out in the car and Ollie was in the boot and instead of sitting in the front seat as usual, Katie asked to sit in the back to be near Ollie. Liz explained: “When we were out walking with Ollie and another dog appeared, Katie’s fear levels would increase and I noticed that Ollie would position himself between Katie and the other dog. He remained calm and apparently unconcerned, but he was right on it every time.

“I feel now that without Tim’s help we would have been on very tricky territory but his free service meant that much of the risk was diminished and to a greater degree we know what we would be dealing with - after that, we had hope, plenty of hope that the light that dogs bring would shine through. And Ollie certainly is our leading light.

“The service is free, the dogs are all health assured, the advice is in place and the home breeding is fully checked and all of this is at no cost to the buyer because the dogs are not more expensive than buying unseen, from an anonymous ad. I feel proud to be part of the programme that serves to help people and pets have the best lives together.”

“The service I set up ensures all those risks are gone, it ensures the best possible chance for the puppies and their mums and dads.
