Luna decided to have an unassisted birth after a traumatic experience with her first son
A mum free birthed her children at home after a "wild pregnancy" - with no scans or medication - and says she trusted her body to "be responsible for the birth outcome". Luna Flowerday, 34, decided to have an unassisted birth after a traumatic experience with her first son Atticus, five, when doctors used a vacuum cup to get him out.
She gave birth to their daughter, Juniper, now three, in the bath at home on December 11, 2019, weighing 8lbs – exactly two years after Atticus - and says the experience was "really beautiful". Luna went on to have another wild pregnancy with no scans and free birthed her son, Arcadi, weighing 8lbs 8oz in a birth pool surrounded by her husband and children on September 12, 2022.
She and Ben looked at YouTube videos, books and podcasts. Luna said: “It gave me understanding on how powerful we are as women.” “I thought 'let’s just see'.” Although she opted for a wild pregnancy, Luna had scans every two weeks for 10 weeks until her she was cleared – after her cervix had grown back.
