Keisha Schahaff and Anastatia Mayars won Sir Richard Branson's competition
A MUM and daughter duo will be the first people from Antigua and Barbuda to embark on a once in a lifetime trip to space.
Keisha Schahaff, a health and wellness coach, was the lucky winner of a competition by multi-billionaire entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson to join a commercial flight to space.Keisha was given two tickets and opted to take her daughter, Anastatia Mayars, a keen astrophysics student.Keisha said the pair are in the final stages of preparing for their flight to space with “going through different trainings”.
She added that the following months have been “more about preparing my mind for what I am going to be doing after the space flight”.“I have been very lucky that I have been maintaining a healthy lifestyle so that worked to my advantage,” she said. Now, Keisha and her daughter – an aspiring NASA Engineer – are set to travel to New Mexico to undergo a five-day in person training session. Keisha has even met Maja Muric, the Director of Galactic Unite [at Virgin Galactic], where she has been preparing them for their minds’ to handle space travel.
Keisha said there has been no set date on when they will take flight to space, but could be in July this year.
