Another suspect was arrested for murder after a man was found dead with a gunshot wound at a crash scene in Midvale.Police responded to a crash near 8000 South
Police responded to a crash near 8000 South Jackson Street and La Salle Drive in Midvale on Sept. 18 and found a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Mason Snowball, 23, was declared dead at the scene.
Officials with the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake initially announced the death investigation, saying a 14-year-old was in custody. On Friday, Christiano Antonio Madison, 21, was also arrested for murder and aggravated robbery in connection with Snowball's death, according to court documents. Officers reported that as many as four suspects, at least two of whom are juveniles, are believed to be involved. On the day of the alleged murder, police said a witness reported hearing a loud pop and seeing a car move quickly through a parking lot before crashing into the front yard of a duplex on La Salle Drive. Investigators watched surveillance footage, identifying two suspects in the area prior to Snowball's murder. Footage allegedly captured the sound of a gunshot at 8:14 p.m., and another camera captured the two suspects fleeing the parking lot at 8:15 p.m. "There is video evidence showing four suspects running into immediately after the murder. Investigators served a warrant on the residence and took several people into custody for interviews," documents said. After conducting interviews, police said they learned it "was the suspects' intent to 'rob a guy of his weed.'" Detectives discovered information that led to the arrest of a juvenile, who was not identified due to their age, and Madison's arrest. Police said there "is strong evidence" linking Madison to the murder, including an Instagram photo where he is in the same clothes as one of the suspects shown in surveillance footage. They also said his social media indicated that he missed his meeting with his probation officer earlier in September and had left home with a 9mm gun. The 9mm casing was found at the crime scene. The firearm used in the murder has not been recovered, according to police. "It is likely the suspects know where it is located and may still have access to it. It is imperative that all suspects on this case remain in custody for the safety of the public, witnesses, and other involved persons," police said when arguing to hold Madison without bail.
