Multiple people have been shot in an active shooter situation near Brown University buildings on Saturday afternoon, and no one is in custody, officials said.A statement from the school says officials became aware of the shooting near the Barus & Holley Engineering building at 4:22 p.m.School officials, in another alert, and President Donald Trump, in a social media post, initially said a suspect was in custody, but later clarified that no one is in custody. A statement from the university said a report of a secondary shooting near Governor Street was unfounded. The alerts directed students to "Lock doors, silence phones and stay stay hidden until further notice. Remember: RUN, if you are in the affected location, evacuate safely if you can; HIDE, if evacuation is not possible, take cover; FIGHT, as a last resort, take action to protect yourself. Stay tuned for further safety information." Providence police confirmed that multiple people have been shot, but did not immediately provide further information on their injuries. A statement from the school, reads, in part, "We are very sorry to share that we have confirmed reports of multiple shooting victims, but we do not yet have information about their condition that we are in a position to share.
