A series of child abduction attempts across Williamson County has left residents on edge, with six incidents reported from Austin to Leander in the past month. Three of the incidents happened this past week.

Sebastian Zamarripa, a resident of Round Rock for nearly 40 years, is concerned about the safety in his neighborhood. "I have never seen anything like this before." He added, "Things are happening in this area for one reason or another. I just wish this area would be safer."The latest attempt occurred in Leander around 3 p.m. on Friday. Rose Henry, who lives in the Riverwalk subdivision in Hutto, where one of the three attempts took place this week, said, "It's kinda crazy that it's near here." She said the incidents hit a little too close to home. "My brother actually just had a baby yesterday, so a little concerned about that because he lives in the apartments right up here in Hutto," she said. The third incident this week happened on West Mesa Park Drive in Round Rock, a location that experienced a similar incident in March. Zamarripa emphasized the need for increased police presence. "I think it would help," he said. "I could get the police down here and patrol this area. Things are just going on, and they don't seem like they're stopping.""They're still learning about stranger danger, and with kidnappings, people can just come out of nowhere, so it's really scary."
