San Jose Sharks’ Shakir Mukhamadullin waits for a face-off against the Winnipeg Jets in the first period at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024. SAN JOSE – Sharks defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin was away from the team’s practice facility on Friday for personal reasons, coach Ryan Warsofsky said.
Through a mix of injuries and healthy scratches, Mukhamadullin has only played in 26 of the Sharks’ 56 games this season. Mukhamadullin was a healthy scratch Thursday“I just think about that,” the Russian-born Mukhamadullin said of his career Thursday morning. “Everyone says I’m young, I’m still young, but I’m already 24. I think it’s not that young. It’s time to do something.” When he has played this season, Mukhamadullin’s ice time has been notably down from 2024-25, as he’s averaging 16:15 per game, well below the 18:04 he posted in 30 NHL games last season. “Honestly, I’m not happy with how my season is going,” Mukhamaduklin told the Bay Area News Group. “Not playing that many games. Also have, like, small ice time. When I play, every time, it’s 13, 14 minutes. “But it is what it is. Just try to stay positive every day. Just a lot of thinking in my head right now about my season, but just stay positive and just prepare for every game and be ready.” If he’s available, Mukhamadullin could get a chance to play Saturday as the Sharks look to bounce back from an uneven performance against the Flames.
