Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Islamic Religious Council’s (Muis) zakat (tithe) collection increased by 11 per cent, said Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.
She said the collection in 2022 amounted to RM132.68 million, an increase of 11 per cent compared to RM119.5 million in 2021.According to her, as much as RM120.51 million of the total collection in 2022 was distributed to zakat recipients, with the largest recipient being Hak Fakir, which amounted to RM53.55 million or 44.4 per cent.
