Muhammad Ali is widely regarded as the greatest boxer of all time and now his daughter Rasheda Ali is fighting to raise awareness about the disease that took over her father’s life. “Daddy was passionate about so many different causes when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's,” she says.
I think that was another group that he really wanted to help out specifically.” Rasheda Ali has written a children’s book titled "I'll Hold Your Hand So You Won't Fall: A Child's Guide to Parkinson's Disease," designed to help kids struggling to understand Parkinson’s disease in a loved one. Something she say she saw firsthand with her own two sons. “They had questions about their grandpa that I didn’t think to answer because I kind of grew up with Parkinson's,” she says. More than a million people in the U.S. are living with Parkinson's disease and that number is expected to rise. Pat VanBeveren of Empower Parkinson's says physical activities like boxing can help slow down the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and he wants those struggling with the disease to know there is hope and they can fight back. “Our big goal is to raise awareness for people with Parkinson's and that the diagnosis is not an end-of-life diagnosis, there’s life after Parkinson's,” VanBeveren said. It is a message of hope Rasheda Ali has shared with thousands across the country. A message she says her father would have been proud of. “I think he wanted to let people know live your life to the fullest extent possible and don’t let Parkinson's define who you are,” she says. The greatest may be gone, but thanks to his daughter, Muhammad Ali’s unbreakable spirit lives on, giving those battling Parkinson’s the strength they need to fight another day.SAN ANTONIO - An investigation is underway for a officer-involved shooting involving a Castle Hills Police detective. The incident happened just after 8 a.m. Wednesday on the access road of Northwest Loop 410 and San PedSAN ANTONIO - This morning, closing arguments will be heard in the capital murder trial of Christopher Preciado.
