Quarterback isn’t the only concern. The Browns have been very average in actions and results in all areas. Both sides of the ball have, frankly, just not been good enough. The analytical team-building that governs most of their decisions is probably at a make-or-break level this year, specifically on defense. Last year, the Browns generated 34 sacks , forced 20 turnovers and were 19th getting off the field on third down.
By my count, the Browns have added at least five new parts to what I considered a mediocre group of front-seven players in 2022. I give decision-makers an A for not sitting on their hands. We don’t have enough inside information to be critical of the moves the Browns made to help their defense.
