“Some say Muda will split votes. I say enough. The politics of fear-mongering should end,” Syed Saddiq said.
The fledgling party has decided to go it alone as a “third force” in the elections, said its president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
“After discussions and debates, Muda has made a stand and based on the consensus of the party, Muda will contest on its own in the six states,” Syed Saddiq told a press conference yesterday. Syed Saddiq was unfazed over claims that Muda would split votes for Pakatan Harapan, which along with Barisan Nasional forms the unity government.Syed Saddiq also said Muda’s decision to contest wasn’t because of failed seat talks with Pakatan.
“There was no such negotiation. That is why Muda decided to bring a new form of politics,” he said.Syed Saddiq also said Muda was ready to face the consequences for clashing with Pakatan, adding that his party would announce the seats it will contest in due time. The Muar MP said Muda’s campaign would be mostly held online, with some ground campaigning. Muda had applied to join Pakatan in September last year but did not receive any response.
