For subscribers: Much of the attorney general's job involves consumer protection. Here's where candidates stand on the issue
While the Republican attorney general's primary has focused on the border, much of the job actually entails consumer protection.
Given the extensive role the attorney general has in consumer protection, The Arizona Republic asked the seven candidates for the office the following questions:Seniors are a fast-growing demographic in Arizona. What would you do specifically to help seniors? After journalist Morgan Loew exposed through his investigation that current Attorney General Mark Brnovich has siphoned millions of dollars away from the consumer fraud fund to feed his political pet projects like the federalism fund, I spoke out against this abuse of office. In fact, I was the only Attorney General candidate to do so.
Work directly with organizations such as AARP, Area Agency on Aging, FSL , senior centers, senior living facilities and others to increase awareness and provide public education and awareness, both in-person and virtually.
