✨ MTV Moves 2020 vmas Outdoors Due To COVID Concerns:
MTV’s annual Video Music Awards are moving from its originally planned Brooklyn stage to an outdoor venue due to coronavirus concerns, according to reporting by People Magazine.
The 2020 award show will potentially go without an audience as outdoor performances will be scattered throughout New York City. MTV noted their change of plans was due in part to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. “In close consultation with state and local health officials, it became clear at this time that outdoor performances with limited or no audience would be more feasible and safer than an indoor event,” MTV said in a statement.
Back in June, MTV announced that they received clearance from New York State authorities to hold the award show in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Last week, MTVOutdoor events will include performances from the international boy band and K-pop group BTS, Doja Cat, and J Balvin. Leading the pack with nominations this year are Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd.
MTV announced two new awards last month in light of the ongoing pandemic: best music video from home and best quarantine performance. The new awards come as a number of artists have been producing music and staging at-home concerts.and BTS held an online concert “Bang Bang Con: The Live” which attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers. The virtual concert landed BTS a Guinness World Record for the most viewers of a music concert live stream.
