The goal of the initiative is to enhance trust and collaboration between police and the communities they serve.

) - The Mobile Police Department has completed a pledge to enhance trust and collaboration between police and the communities they serve, the department has announced. The Trust Building Campaign is an initiative begun by International Association of Chiefs of Police .

To join, law enforcement agencies must pledge to implement 25 key policies and leading practices within a 36-month period.By completing the Trust Building Campaign Pledge, MPD says the department established policies and trainings, conducted assessments, and developed strategies within six focus areas that include bias-free policing; use of force; leadership and culture; recruitment, hiring and retention; victim services; and community relations. The goal, according to the department, is to build trust and encourage positive partnerships between police and community that promote safe and effective interactions, create strategies to prevent and reduce crime, and improve everyone’s quality of life. MPD says greatest benefit in taking the Trust Building Campaign Pledge has having the department’s policies and procedures reviewed by an outside entity. “I am excited to take part in the Trust Building Campaign so that the citizens of our great city know that we don’t just look within our department ourselves, but that we welcomed our policies and procedures to be examined by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to review so that we know we continue to set the bar as a professional law enforcement agency,” Jackson said.Crash involving multiple motorcyclists on Highway 158, ALEA investigating Mobile PD arrests women accused of striking another on head with glass bottle, firing shots into cars‘He was the best girl dad and husband’: Mobile man reported missing in Kentucky found dead
