Whitworth councillor Scott Smith has written to Rossendale and Darwen MP Andy McNae
A councillor has written to his local MP urging him to make a U-turn on plans to scrap the Winter Fuel payment with thousands across Rossendale set to suffer.
In his letter, Cllr Smith wrote: "I am writing to you to express residents' deep concern at the Government's plan to withdraw Winter Fuel Payments from pensioners in Rossendale. "That is why residents across the Valley will be so shocked by the Chancellor's u-turn. More than 11,000 pensioners across Rossendale are now set to have this vital lifeline taken away.
