Moveworks raises $30 million to stop employees from hating IT by jillianiles

I cover Google parent company Alphabet and artificial intelligence. The Moveworks team, from left to right: Jiang Chen, Vaibhav Nivargi, Bhavin Shah, and Varun Singh.Few experiences better illustrate the tiresome banality of corporate life than filing an IT request for something as simple as software access or a password reset and then waiting hours—or even days—for a resolution.

Moveworks deals with about 15% of a customer’s daily IT tickets autonomously out of the box, Shah says, but because new data makes the system better, it ramps up to about 30% of tickets in a few weeks. Results-oriented stats like those helped the company land dozens of customers, including Broadcom, Western Digital, Autodesk and Nutanix.

“I was flabbergasted: It’s one of the few times that a tool built for IT service management has such a positive and extraordinary impact,” she says. “In IT, people’s lives got markedly better, and the people that they were supporting were so much happier too.”
