San Antonio theater preparing for its grand opening and much more in its largest space to date.
The Overtime Theater has gotten very good at moving. The company, which has spotlighted original work since it began in a tiny former mortuary on West Avenue , is in transition between Home No 5 on Bandera Road and Home No. 6 on Vance Jackson Road. “It’s definitely going to be a new era for us,” said board member Kareem Abu Dahab , who has written, directed and acted in Overtime shows for the past 10 years.
San Antonio actor marks 40 years starring in “Rocky Horror Show” At almost 5,000 square feet, it is the biggest space Overtime has ever had. It will allow the company to have two distinct performance spaces — a requirement since Home No. 4 on Camden near the Pearl — as well as a small lobby and tech booths for each. Board member Rob Barron, who has been with the Overtime since the beginning, sees a lot of potential in the performance spaces. But the thing he’s most jazzed about is the tech shop.
