A mountain lion was spotted in western Frisco, near Lewisville Lake, in early November, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Texas wildlife officials are warning residents after a mountain lion was captured on video strolling through the backyard of a Denton County home last week.The video footage of the mountain lion is from Friday, she said, adding that state wildlife officials visited the location to confirm the sighting.This is the first confirmed sighting of a mountain lion in Denton County, she said. The state started formally tracking mountain lion sightings in the early 1990s.
“We may not get another video; it may not be seen again,” she said. “But if it is, we want to be able to monitor its movements.”If people encounter a mountain lion, they should pick up any children and small animals off the ground and not approach the animal, according to the release.
