Fox News is reporting that the Pentagon has agreed to host a new Qatari air force facility in Idaho, at the Mountain Home Air Force Base.
The Pentagon has agreed to host a new Qatari air force facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. Congressman Mike Simpson said in a post on X that the development is "Fantastic news for Mountain Home Air Force Base.
" Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said, "Today, we’re announcing a letter of acceptance in building a Qatari Emiri Air Force facility at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho." The facility will reportedly train Qatari pilots in how to fly F-15 fighter jets. "Location will be host to a contingent of Qatari F-15s and pilots to enhance our combined training, increase lethality, interoperability. It's just another example of our partnership," said Hegseth. This will not be the first foreign air force to have a training contingent at Mountain Home AFB. Singapore's air force F-15SG fighter jets have been stationed at the base since 2009, for a planned 25-year training program. President Trump issued an Executive Order on September 29, ensuring the safety of Qatar. The EO states that "Over the years, the United States and the State of Qatar have been bound together by close cooperation, shared interests, and the close relationship between our armed forces." Secretary Hegseth said in a statement at the signing that Qatar has been an integral partner in peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
