The Mount Vernon Arts Consortium launched less than a year ago and they're already bringing in some popular acts -- and excitement -- to the town.

The foundation’s efforts started with infrastructure in creating Ariel Foundation Park and its. It also helped in 2017 with renovations for the 1,000-seat Knox Memorial, a nearly 100-year-old venue that was built in honor of World War I veterans.
“This became an economic development strategy,” she continued. “We’re rich in arts, rich in culture and if we showcased that, we could share the best-kept secret in central Ohio.” . Then, maybe they’d return after hearing about the area’s trails and waterways. “Knox County is a lovely rural area in the center of the state,” Odenweller said. “Development was the impetus of the arts consortium.”
The building became run-down — holes in the floor, broken windows, boards everywhere — but beginning in the 1990s, renovations commenced, first putting in restaurants and shops on the first floor and then, transforming the theater using salvaged parts from the time period in which it was originally built.
